That's exactly what the Sundays were -- lovely! I use that word a lot in this, to the point where I actually had written a sentence or two (which I later cut) apologizing/ defending myself for writing it so much.
I considered including the fact that you and I saw them play at the Knitting Factory in NYC, when they toured on Static and Silence. That was the first concert I ever saw at a smoke-free venue, which at the time was a big deal. These days we take for granted that we can go to shows and breathe at the same time.
In any case, I decided to leave it out in the end, because it was those first two albums -- and particularly the 1993 tour -- that really take over my memory, when I think of this band. Summertime is a great song, though.
So here it is July 5, and FB just showed me a post from Post-Punk.com wishing Harriet Wheeler a happy birthday at exactly midnight on June 26 ... the same day I published this post. That's one *crazy* coincidence, and off I go now to edit the post to report on this!
